USDA School Breakfast, Lunch and Smart Snacks Programs

We made Rice Pops for everyone to enjoy. We also had students’ nutritional wellness in mind when choosing the ingredients and determining the recipes. That’s why this healthy snack meets the nutritional guidelines of and is able to be served as a whole grain-rich item in the USDA’s School Breakfast Program (SBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
Smart Snacks in Schools is another initiative to improve the snack offerings for foods sold in schools throughout the day. These snacks are considered “competitive foods” to school meal programs and must meet Smart Snacks’ nutrition requirements. Rice Pops are Smart Snacks’ compliant, and can be served as an à la carte item in school cafeterias and sold in school stores and vending.
